Master Gardeners at the Farmer's Market

The Reno County Farmer's Market is a treasure we have to enjoy here in this area. Besides offering wonderfully tasty fruits and vegetables, there is an array of garden flowers and personal gift products for both the home and family. Located at 2nd and Washington our Farmer's Market is 30 years old this year. WOW!! Open Saturday's from 7:30am to 12:30pm there is often musical entertainment as well as the usual great feeling of something exciting in the air. Also open Wednesdays from 10 to 2pm, they will continue to be open through October 31st. Plan to wear Halloween costumes and shop for unique items. For more information see (http://www.renocountyfarmersmarket.com).

For the first time this year, the Reno County Extension's Master Gardener's have a booth at the Farmer's Market. Plan to visit and check it out on third Saturdays. Here are some highlights so far this summer.
Reno County Extension Master Gardener (RCEMG) Claire Foy tells some shoppers how to enjoy a "salad shot" at the July 18 farmers market!

While sharing garden information flyers, RCEMG members served two unique salads. The Sweet and Savory Salad included a mixture of watermelon and tomatoes, feta cheese, and bacon with a dash of sea salt. The second salad was made with a vegetable spiral cutter.

There are door prizes so come and see what you can learn and possibly WIN!!

The July 18 Reno County Extension Master Gardener's door prize winner was Berenice Gover. The door prize was a spiral cutter and oven mitt provided by Apron Strings.

Here's Stacie Duncan on her front porch enjoying the container pot she won from the drawing at the Reno County Extension Master Gardener's booth on the third Saturday's Farmer's Market.

June 20 RCEMG booth's theme was "At the Market, GRILLING VEGGIES." The door prize was a set of grilling accessories.

Hope to see YOU at the Farmer's Market August 15th. Look for the Reno County Extension Master Gardener's Booth and see what you can win.
